(CCM) — Videos in Comments, a new Facebook feature that lets users upload videos as comments or replies to posts, is now available worldwide. Videos can be uploaded in response to posts by people and pages as well as within groups and events. The new feature is supported on mobile devices running iOS and Android devices and on Facebook’s web application. It can be accessed by clicking on the camera icon in any Facebook comment box.
Videos in Comments is the latest addition to a range of Facebook commenting options that includes links, photos, stickers, and emoji. A prototype of the feature was originally developed by Facebook programmers working together from London, New York, and California as a side project. It was developed in a single day during one of the company’s “Hackathon” coding events. Some of the same programmers were also responsible for Facebook’s Multimedia Posts feature, which allows users to put photos and videos in posts, and which was prototyped at a similar event last year.
